Free, A Life Changing Vacation. Leave Today!
What happens when you are on vacation? You are often isolated from your normal life routine. A routine for many that involves waking up to the morning TV news, reading the newspaper, listening to the radio and news on the way to work, seeing headlines on your homepage, discussing news with co-workers, driving home to more radio news, turning on the nightly news, watching news related programs, and of course finishing the day with the 10:00 pm, 11:00 pm, or a 24 hours news broadcast. Wow, that's a lot of news.
You probably see where this is going. What is often missing from a vacation? The NEWS. Do you think that has anything to do with you feeling better at the end of a vacation? It certainly does. You have just had a week of re-programming your brain. Unfortunately, a week only gets you a couple of days of feeling good. The longer you re-program, the longer you will feel good.
Think about the news. What is the sole underlying purpose or mission of a news related business, whether online, print, or television? To sell advertisements. Period. Maybe I am cynical, but I have yet to find anyone providing advertisement free news out of the goodness of their heart. In order to sell ads, and sell them at higher rates, what do you need? Viewers, readers, and listeners.
What do we know about the unfortunate nature of humans? We are drawn into stories of negativity, despair, misery, gloom, fear, etc. Since we are drawn in more by a story of multiple deaths in a horrific traffic accident, versus an article about the local Girl Scouts visiting a nursing home, we get doom, gloom, and fear inducing stories. Simply put, these stories help to sell ads. Positive only news outlets have been tried, with no success.
Think about it. What should be going into your mind each day? Positive, uplifting, motivating information, or the news, which is predominately negative? It does not take a rocket scientist to know what is better for you. News is to your brain, as fast food is to your body. It is everywhere, easy to swallow, might taste okay going down, but it is not very good for you. It is hard to avoid the news with all of the available outlets but it can certainly be done. You just need to change your habits.
But I won't be informed? Informed of what? Negative events? Death? Failure? Misery? How is that a benefit for you, or anyone? It is not. If you want to be informed about sports or weather, which also can be negative, find other outlets. They are out there. Politics and celeb happenings, same thing. By the way, be your own celebrity. Admire yourself. When Joe Blow at work says "did you hear about the 20 plus people killed on a train this morning", you can confidently and simply say, no, and then change the subject to something positive and useful. They will get the hint for the future that you are just not interested in discussing negativity.
Yes, you will relapse. Do not worry, just get back on the horse. You do not need the news or any other negativity going into your valuable mind. It is almost like a bad addictive drug. Personally, I can attest to just how much more happy and positive (vacation effect) I feel when I completely shut off the news and news shows. You will really feel a huge difference in your life. Just try it. Take a free one week vacation from the news as a start and tell me you do not notice a difference.
